Having been involved with the medical community for many years as a patient I am glad to be on the other side of the exam table. I now have a greater appreciation for those who had to deal with my worst side when something was wrong with me. I have more empathy and sympathy for those who sacrifice so much to treat, research, assess and diagnose, and document all the information that is required by these professions. Also the sacrifices their families make to support them in their career endeavours.
